Day 11: A Soldier's Promise

A good book for adults, some military language is included. A first hand account of the war in the very beginning. I'm only about half way through, but this true story winds together the life of Sgt. Hendrix and the life of a young boy forced to fight in the insurgency by his abusive father. From the peaking I did without ruining the story for myself, the young boy helps soldiers in his area and Sgt. Hendrix does his best to protect Jamil (the young boy) and his mother and younger siblings. It is a very strong story. It shows the reality of the kind of people America is fighting right now and how soldiers are doing their very best to make the world better.
